Interdisciplinary research programs, alongside industry engagement, are a focus of our approach to doctoral education.

These programs bring together graduate researchers from two or more faculties who work together, under the supervision of leading academics, on issues of global significance. We develop the expertise and skills of talented young researchers through both academic mentoring, industry internships and international field work.

The Water and Sustainability in Asia Graduate Research Interdisciplinary Program (GRIP) brings together researchers from Monash Engineering and Monash Arts to support the transition of developing Asian cities to more sustainable, resilient and livable conditions through state of the art water technologies, policy development and social practices.

Hosted by the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, this program offers its industry and government partners access to the latest breakthroughs, increased networks and the opportunity to develop and recruit outstanding graduate researchers.

"I chose Monash for my PhD after looking for a long time, seeking something that was about really making an impact. I'm excited by the future that we will help to shape for our society and hope that we can be part of real change in Asia"
